Two ‘Countdown to Christmas’ theatre shows announce for December 2024
Gala evening performance
As one of the most performed Christmas shows in the country, with an estimated 400 festive performances due to take place this year alone, ‘Countdown to Christmas’ has fast become a Christmas institution in its own right.
Now in it’s seventh season of festive touring shows, and returning for its fourth consecutive annual visit to Chipping Sodbury’s Town Hall, this magical show is sure to fill everyone who sees it with festive cheer.
The show’s performed as the ultimate live ‘Musical’ advent calendar, counting down through some of the greatest Christmas hits ever recorded. Just think of your favourite ‘Now That’s What I call – Christmas’ album, mixed with a sprinkling of ‘Michael Bublé’s Christmas Magic’, all washed down with a liberal glass of Christmas spirit, then you’ll be on the right track!
With something for all the family, from a special ‘Holly Dolly Christmas’ performance by national treasures The D-Day Dollies, to a special appearance by a ‘Cool’ Disney Princess for the young, and young at heart, this fun mix of chart hits and popular Christmas anthems is the perfect way to see in the festive season.
This is a show where singing along and dancing in the aisles isn’t frowned upon… it’s absolutely applauded and encouraged!
Do you know a ‘Grinch’? Then bring them along! Our ‘Christmas Elves’ like a challenge, and they’ll have them doing the ‘Christmas Conga’ before Santa comes down the chimney for his grand finale.
From Bing Crosby’s ‘White Christmas’ to Mariah Carey’s ‘All I want for Christmas’, and a host of hits in between, there will be something for everyone in this ultimate Christmas musical show.
The only question is, will your festive favourite make it behind that coveted final advent calendar window at the end of the night? Will ‘Slade’ out place ‘Wizard’ in the countdown, and will ‘Band Aid’ beat ‘Chris de Burgh’ when it comes to Santa’s final list? Come along and join the party to find out on the 20th December 2024!
Free matinee performance
On the afternoon of the 20th December, as always, the talented Mini Concerts performers will be providing a free matinee show for the residents of Care and Nursing Homes in South Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas. These free shows are there to share the love with our thousands of Care and Nursing Home fans and provide some of their more mobile (and maybe not so mobile) residents with the chance to visit a fully accessible theatre, and once again experience the joy of a live theatre performance. So if you are a Care or Nursing Home Manager, Activities Coordinator, run a Support Group for those living with Dementia, or are Personal Carer you can register for free tickets by following this link – Free ‘Countdown to Christmas’ tickets. To make sure that we have plenty of time to get everyone in and seated, the doors will open from 1.45 pm, with the show due to start at 2.30 pm. Free tea, coffee, and water will be available before the show.
The evening gala performance will take place at 7.45 pm on Friday 20th December 2024 at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall, 57-59 Broad St, Chipping Sodbury, BS37 6AD.
Doors will open at 7.00 pm and there will be a 20 minute intermission during the show.

65 years of age and over – £12.00
